Are there any author hopefuls out there? Writer wannabes like myself? I found a website called Authonomy. It is owned by the publisher Harper Collins.
Authonomy offers a place to upload your book, or even a work in progress. Other members can then read and rate your work . . . A lot like many other author websites. The difference, however, is that Authonomy is owned and operated by a publisher, and apparently there is a potential to have your book noticed and published by Harper Collins.
I’m new to the site (blunderdad is my user name if you want to read and leave a review stating that my writing some of the greatest literature that can be found on the planet). Activity on the site is a little slow, but it’s an interesting concept.
So check it out and tell me what you think. Or maybe you have and already have an opinion.
I think your writing is HILARIOUS, and I think you could be very successful.
(Candid comment: You might need a tiny bit of help cleaning up some rough edges and I do not know how a person finds someone to help with that. What to the pros do? IDK. They must have somebody to proof read…)
I absolutely want to support you and will go on there and write something soon!

I’m hoping that my roughness is inside the boundaries of an editor. I need to take some writing classes. Sometimes I can tell the story isn’t quite right but I don’t know how to fix it. It doesn’t help that I get inspiration, type out the story, and half ass edit it all within an hour. I need to slow down 🙂

Well if you can produce those blog posts in that speed, you have a lot to work with! 🙂

Some were whipped out several years ago and I’ve tried to re-edit them before posting, but I know I’m just beating my head against the wall until I seek professional help. I might enjoy a writing class. But then I haven’t attempted anything that resembles school since the late 80’s. . . Scary!

Just keep putting one foot in front of another. May be it is a long term investment. Polish writing now and transition out of tree trimming when the time is right? Anyway, I will keep reading and encouraging. I think you have something worth reading!

Thanks for sharing this site…my husband is an author and I’ve given him the site to check out. Your comment about writing and editing was funny. Unless I write a post that takes research, I write them in about 15-20 minutes (having previously written them in my head). But I AGONIZE with the editing. It is not unusual for me to take 1 1/2 hours to edit a 300 word post. A lot is the formatting, for which I have to obsess over the spacing on my laptop. And then it doesn’t look right on my kindle. Which probably has to do with the theme I chose for my blog. Yet I like the theme and people are used to it. Decisions, decisions. Thanks again for the tip, and good luck with the site.

I have trouble with format too. I self published a few collections of my stories a couple years ago, and getting the format the way I wanted it was a night mare.
